Appointments in Fortum Corporation
According to Fortum's strategy to build new growth platforms, the company established an office in New Delhi in February 2012. Recently Fortum announced its first solar PV investment in India. Company continues to assess also other business opportunities in the Indian energy markets.
The next natural step in the development is to connect the operations in India to Fortum's Heat Division from the beginning of 2014. This allows the best use of the company's entire industrial competences when developing offering for the Indian energy markets.
In line with this step, Maria Paatero-Kaarnakari, SVP Fortum Asia, has been appointed Senior Advisor, New Markets, Fortum Corporation. She will report directly to the company CFO Markus Rauramo. Maria Paatero-Kaarnakari's main tasks will include developing concepts and providing support in Fortum's new market initiatives and integration as well as organizational development.
Matti Kaarnakari, Managing Director Fortum India Pvt. Ltd., will head Heat India and coordinate Fortum activities in India until concluding his work in India during 2014. He will report to Per Langer, EVP Heat Division, Fortum Corporation.
Fortum's Heat Division consists of combined heat and power (CHP) generation, district heating activities and business-to-business heating solutions in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Poland and other parts of the Baltic Rim.
