Fortum provides a comprehensive range of energy products and related services in Finland.
We have power and heat generation and sales. Power and heat are generated by more than 30 power plants in various parts of Finland, and the plants generate either electricity or heat, or both (combined-cycle power plants). The plants are fired with hydro, nuclear, condensing or wind power, depending on the product. Fortum Power Solutions is in charge of the operation and maintenance of Fortum’s power plants and of other contracted plants.
The company owns and operates distribution and regional networks, and distributes electricity to a total of 580,000 customers in Finland. Fortum's market share of electricity distribution, based on volume transmitted in distribution networks is appr. 21% in Finland.
We have a 31% holding in the gas company Gasum Oy, which is responsible for the procurement and transmission of natural gas, transmission network operations, maintenance and marketing in Finland.
For our private customers, we offer an Internet service, in which our customers can make electricity contracts, among other things.

Germany
Fortum in Germany offers the full scope of energy-related services, such as asset management, performance improvement, operation and maintenance and special maintenance services. Our customers are generation plant owners like industrial companies, electricity and heat distribution companies and municipal energy companies.
We have diversified experience in operation and maintenance services for different power plants such as combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Burghausen, an energy from waste plant in Afferde and a biomass power plant in Herbrechtingen.
In 2005 Fortum signed an operation and maintenance agreement for a Trianel 800 MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant in Hamm. In spring 2006 we won,, another large operation and maintenance agreement for Norwegian Statkraft-owned 800 MW combined CCGT plant in Knapsack Hürth. In 2008, Fortum has signed another long-term operation and maintenance contract with Trianel Power Kohlekraftwerk Lünen GmbH & Co. KG covering the new 750 MW coal-fired power plant in Lünen. The power plant will be commissioned in autumn 2012 and represents a new ultra-supercritical technology that enables very high availability and low emissions. The technology developed in Japan is to be applied in Europe for the first time.

Latvia
Our activities in Latvia concentrate on heat production and sales. Fortum Jelgava is a district heating company with heat sales of 219 GWh. Our company has 16 000 district heating customers. The first combined power and heat (CHP) plant in Jelgava started in June 2009 with average electricity sales of 32 GWh per year.
We offer the heating services to business customers in Riga Airport area. The annual heat sales is 15 GWh.

Fortum Heat Lietuva´s subsidiaries UAB Švenčiniu energija and UAB Janiskio energija generate and deliver district heat in the cities of Švenčiniou and Janiskio. Fortum Ekošiluma produces and sells bio fuels.
Fortum owns 100 % of the share capital in Fortum Heat Lietuva. The company has 4 800 district heat customers and district heat sales of 60 GWH and fuel sales of 60 GWH.

Norway In Norway, Fortum owns Fortum Fjernvarme AS located in the vicinity of Oslo. The company is selling district heat and district cold in Norway. Furthermore Fortum has a 50% share in Drammen Fjernvarme AS and other minor participations in different heat companies.
Fortum Distribution AS, is responsible of electricity distribution. Fortum Markets AS, takes care of electricity sales. Fortum Elsikkerhet AS, carries out safety control services, internal controls of electricity and informations services about electricity safety.

The companies are located in the Østfold county.
Furthermore, Fortum has shares of energy companies Hafslund AS and Fredrikstad Energi AS, and electricity sales company Ishavskraft AS. Fortum and Ishavskraft intend to develop together a partner concept in Norway. The companies are also investigating potential co-operation with other partners in the Arctic area of Nordic countries.

Core activity of Fortum companies in Poland is production, distribution and sale of heat and wide range of operation and maintenance services.
Fortum is an active player on Polish heat market. Our customers are municipalities, industrial companies and district heating consumers.
Fortum Czestochowa S.A. is a district heating company which produces and supplies heat to over 200 000 citizens of Czestochowa and five other cities in its vicinity. The annual heat sale is 697.3 GWh.
Fortum Power and Heat Polska Sp. z o.o located in Swiebodzice produces and distributes power and heat to altogether 22 towns in the south-western and central regions of Poland. The annual heat sale is 370 GWh and power sale 18.361 MWh.
Fortum Power and Heat Polska Sp. z o.o. located in Wroclaw operates one of the largest district heating nets in Poland. It distributes heat for citizens in the city of Wroclaw. The annual heat sale is 2040 GWh.
Fortum Plock Sp. z o.o. is a district heating company which distributes heat in the city of Płock in central Poland. The annual heat sale is 486 GWh.

Sweden
Fortum is a major player in the Swedish energy market. Fortum has power, heat and cold production, sales and distribution. Fortum also offers maintenance services for power plants and industry.

Our customers in Sweden are among the industry, energy companies and power plants owners as well as private consumers.
Energy procurement includes both an own generation capacity and purchase from the market. The company uses different sources of energy from hydropower to nuclear.
Fortum has power and heat generating plants in the area of Greater Stockholm and in Central Sweden. The major customers are mainly large industrial companies and local electricity utilities.
In distribution, Fortum accounts one fifth of the electricity supply in Sweden, the grid regions extending from Stockholm to large tracts of the rest of the country.
AB Fortum Värme samägt med Stockholms stad. Using the lead simpler, safer and cleaner, Fortum Värme delivers environment oriented district heating and cooling, power and gas to industries and private customers in Sweden. Operations are run in 16 communities; among them is Stockholm, one of the world's cleanest capitals. The company's turnover is MSEK 5.900 and the number of employees is 490.

In the UK Fortum is focusing on operation and maintenance services.
Fortum O&M (UK) Ltd has been offering operation and maintenance services since the 1990's. We have several Gas Turbine references in United Kingdom and have recently extended our portfolio with a reference plant in the EfW sector. In addition, our extensive biomass references in Scandinavia provide excellent experience for utilisation in similar UK projects. We offer to our customers consistent environmental performance and care of the highest standard having an excellent track record in power plant technology and all power plants that we operate and maintain.
Grangemouth represents one of the projects, where Fortum's experience of design, construction and project management have combined with the experience of operation and maintenance, asset management and energy trading.
The gas-fired CHP plant started its commercial operation in July 2001. It is equipped with a 130 MW Siemens V94.2 gas turbine and also produces 2*250 t/h of steam for the needs of Innovene Manufacturing Scotland (previously BP Grangemouth). Surplus electricity is exported to the Scottish grid.

At the end of 2010, Fortum announced its participation in the upcoming tender process for hydropower concessions in France, which provides an opportunity to grow the share of hydropower at the core of the European electricity markets. In 2011, Fortum established a country organisation in France, Fortum France SNC, which was a significant step towards Fortum’s long-term goal to participate in the development of renewable energy in the country. Fortum France SNC and the French naval defence and energy company DCNS are developing wave power in accordance with a signed letter of intent.
