Promoting energy competence - with the objective to support industry and commerce
Purpose
The Foundation's purpose is to support research, education and development in natural, technical and economical sciences within the energy industry. The Foundation's focus areas within the energy industry are energy production and use, as well as clean energy solutions for traffic.
To fulfil its purpose, the Foundation can grant scholarships, honorary awards or other such financial means to economically support actions relating to meeting its objective, and carry out communications and publication activities. Multi-annual scholarships may also be granted as a fixed-sum commitment for clearly-defined purposes. In 2011 the amount of scholarships is around EUR 700,000, which also includes multi-annual scholarships granted in previous years.
2012 Applications
In the October 2011 application period, the foundation received 147 applications with a total sum of over EUR 4 million. The foundation accepted 40 new applications with a total sum of EUR 544,000. These scholarships were awarded on 6.3.2012 in the Auditorium of Fortum's main office.
The next application period will begin on 2.4.2012 and end on Monday 23.4.2012 at 4:00pm. The deadline for sending in statements of recommendation and other possibly requested additional information is Monday 2.5.2012 at 4:00pm. The scholarships applied for in the April 2012 application period will be awarded in a ceremony on 28.8. from 3:00pm to 4:30pm in the Auditorium of Fortum's main office.
