Sponsorships in Finland

Social responsibility

Swimming and life saving skills

Fortum has launched a cooperation with The Finnish Association for Swimming Instruction and Life Saving (FSL). Together we aim to improve the swimming and life saving skills of Finns as well as raise discussion on safety when being in or by water.

Illumination

We cooperate with cities and communities in bringing light to dark areas. Citizens get to participate by voting which area needs illumination the most. Fortum illuminates the winning area in a way that is energy efficient, environmentally friendly and welcoming.

Children and the youth

Fortum Tutor

This national program was launched in partnership with the Football Association of Finland to develop the skills of coaches of junior teams. The goal is to make sure that children have an inspiring and competent coach. Since 2009, more than 100 football experts have become tutors and the program has impacted more than 10,000 children and their families around Finland.

Children's Opera

Elementary school students get to create a real opera in a project run by Savonlinna Opera Festival and the University of Eastern Finland. The opera's theme is the Saimaa ringed seal (Norppa). Fortum encourages students' enthusiasm to the art of opera as well as raising awareness of the endangered species.

Finnish Paralympic Committee

The Committee represents the Finnish top athletes with disabilities. It also spreads information in schools about disability sports and promotes tolerance. Fortum supports this grassroot level work and is a proud partner of the Para School Day tour.

Culture

World Design Capital Helsinki 2012

World Design Capital is a biennial designation which promotes and encourages the use of design in the development of cities. Fortum is already participating in a process aimed at energy solutions related to future housing and transportation. The process requires joint efforts by many sectors and actors – and WDCH2012 offers a unique opportunity for it.

Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin

Fortum owns a valuable 160-year old Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin and a Noel Burke spring. They were donated to the Sibelius Academy, which lends them to talented students for a prearranged period.
