The focus of growth in electricity demand has shifted to Asia’s fast growing and developing economies where liberalisation of power markets is advancing and the need for private capital is growing. Climate change and local environmental problems create a need for Fortum’s core competence – sustainable, CO2-free and energy-efficient solutions.
Short- and long-term measures
Fortum will tap into its in-depth CHP competence in production using bio-based, renewable raw materials in its current market area. New opportunities are being identified in biomass-related technical innovations implemented together with strategic partners. Sustainable energy solutions are also spearheading Fortum’s exploration.
