Environmental Impact of heat pumps

Heat pumps are energy-efficient and climate-friendly. We produce heat pump-based district heat and cooling in Stockholm and Espoo, for example.

The environmental impact of heat pumps consists of producing the electricity for the pumps and of the impact of heat intake to the waterway acting as the source of heat. However, in most cases, cooling of the soil or the groundwater is not a problem for the environment. If the electricity consumed is produced with hydropower, for example, the environmental impact is small.
Heat pumps are energy-efficient and climate-friendly. Their production stage only causes small loss of the heat carrier or the refrigerant from the pump equipment.
