Meri-Pori power plant

Meri-Pori power plant

The Meri-Pori 565 MW coal power plant is located at Tahkoluoto in Pori, Finland. The power plant was commissioned in 1994 and is one of the cleanest and most effective coal-fired power plants.

The Meri-Pori power plant is jointly owned by Fortum and Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO), and part of its production goes to TVO’s shareholders.

The power plant’s environmental impacts have been minimised by effective cleaning equipment, and emissions have remained well within the allowed limits during the years of operation. Flue gases are cleaned to almost 100%. Fly ash generated in the coal-burning process and gypsum generated in flue gas cleaning are utilised in the building material industry and in excavation.
