EU Commission's public consultation on the review of progress towards the 2020 energy efficiency objective and a 2030 energy efficiency policy framework

​Fortum supports increasing energy efficiency (EE) and believes it is of great importance in building a low carbon society. However, instead of setting new and possibly over-lapping targets and steering mechanisms, we believe that the completion of a market-driven energy market is the most cost-efficient way to promote energy efficiency in the EU. The main focus in the development of the EU Energy Efficiency policy should be in streamlining and implementing the existing legislation and regulation, including standardisation.
