Dow Jones Indexes, STOXX LImited and SAM Group have announced the results of the annual review for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). Fortum has been selected as a component for the worldwide index also this year. Fortum is the first Nordic company to be selected to the Dow Jones Utilities sector.
The assessment results provide detailed information about recent sustainability developments in the corporate world. Across all industries the integration of economic, environmental and social criteria has moved further up the business agenda and is increasingly incorporated into company strategies and core business operations.
"To Fortum, sustainable development means striving for an economic, environmental and social balance in all of our activities, and making a positive contribution to the societies in which we operate. The long-term business success depends on our ability to turn the challenges of sustainable development into business opportunities. We are very glad to have been re-selected as a member in the DJSI family. It shows that we are moving in the right direction," says Fortum´s President and CEO Mikael Lilius.
DJSI World index includes over 300 leading companies from 24 countries in terms of corporate sustainability.
