Fortum and International Management Group, which is responsible for the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, have signed a sponsorship agreement which makes Fortum an official sponsor of the games. The Cup covers a series of games between eight national teams to be played in Europe (Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany) and North America.
The agreement is a continuation of Fortum's ice hockey sponsorships in the Nordic area. Fortum was an international sponsor of the ice hockey world championships both in Sweden 2002 and in Finland 2003. Fortum is also sponsoring both the Swedish and Finnish national teams in the 2003-2004 season.

This contract is part of Fortum´s 3-year sponsorship programme which covers Finland, Sweden and Norway. Sponsorships within sports focus on the most popular and high level events in the respective countries. Fortum is one of the main sponsors of Holmenkollen in Norway and the World Athletics Championships 2005 in Helsinki.
