Fortum signed a long-term bareboat charter and a management contract of two 14,000 dw-tonne product tankers with ABB Credit Oy.
The vessels will be built under Fortum’s supervision at the Portuguese Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo S.A. shipyard and delivered in 2003. The new ships are part of Fortum’s fleet renewal program.
The product tankers will carry mainly Fortum’s own oil products in the Baltic Sea. The vessels will have the highest Finnish ice class 1 A Super and a double-hull. The length of the vessels is 140 m, width 21.7 m and draught 8.7 m.
Fortum’s fleet consists of 26 vessels of which six are wholly and two partly owned by Fortum. The remaining 18 vessels have been chartered under long- or short-term contracts from various owners.
