At the end of 2011 Fortum had 10,780 employees, 10,379 of them in permanent positions, i.e. 96,3% of total personnel. The average age of the employees was 41 years. The energy sector traditionally has been a predominantly male sector: in 2011 29% of Fortum's employees were women. However, women accounted for 34% of management teams in Group and division level.
