In the Vuoksi river system in Finland, we have two hydro power plants, Imatra and Tainionkoski.

Imatra hydro power plant

The Imatra hydro power plant, completed in 1929, is located in the centre of the city of Imatra. The hydro power plant is Finland’s biggest. Its output is 192 MW and head is 24 meters. One Kaplan and six Francis turbines. Average annual production covers the annual electricity use of 50,000+ households with electric heat.

Tainionkoski hydro power plant

The Tainionkoski hydro power plant, completed in 1949, is located in Imatra. The output of the power plant is 62 MW and the head is 7.8 meters. One Bulb and three Kaplan turbines. Average annual production covers the annual electricity use of 15,000+ households with electric heat.
