Kymmen power plant, built in 1987, is the biggest in terms of output. It is a pump-fed power plant, which means water can be pumped back from Lake Rottnen to the storage reservoir in Kymmen and be reused at times of peak electricity demand.
The catchment area also includes the following smaller power plants: Rådjåfors, Väls, Torsby, Kristinefors, Åsteby, Fensbol, Röbjörke, Kymmen, Rottnen, Frykfors and Edsvalla.
