Fortum’s direct impacts on biodiversity are mainly linked to the use of land and water areas for energy production. Indirect impacts may be caused by, for example, largescale procurement of biomass and other fuels. Climate change is a threat to biodiversity, thus the mitigation of climate change is an important part of biodiversity preservation.
Fortum Group has set a Group-wide biodiversity target for 2021
Fortum is committed to several climate and environmental targets, including at least 12 major voluntary measures that enhance biodiversity, to be implemented in 2021.
