Responding to sustainability challenges
Changes to laws, regulations and the business environment can pose a risk to Fortum if not identified and managed effectively. The same applies to changing views of our main stakeholders.
Operating power and heat generation plants, circular economy services and waste management as well as use, storage and transportation of fuels and materials can have adverse effects on the environment and expose personnel to safety risks. We assess environmental and safety risks according to the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 standards and are ready to operate in exceptional and emergency situations.
Environmental, health and safety (EHS) risks as well as social risks related to Fortum’s supply chain are evaluated through supplier qualification, internal and external audits and risk assessments.
