Sustainability is at the core of Fortum’s strategy. In our operations, we give balanced consideration to climate and resource issues, as well as our impacts on personnel and society. We see sustainable energy and circular economy solutions as today’s competitive advantage and a prerequisite for business growth and success.

We redefined our Group-level sustainability priorities

In 2019 we reached most our corporate-level sustainability targets related the environment, such as a target in specific carbon dioxide emissions, CHP plant energy availability and major EHS incidents. The occupational safety of our contractors improved significantly and the injury frequency of our own personnel was also at a good level. The Sustainability Report is part of Fortum's annual reporting entity for 2019, which comprises the CEO's Business Review, Financials, Governance, Remuneration and Tax Footprint, as well as the Sustainability Report. The non-financial reporting, in line with the Accounting Act, is included in the Operating and Financial Review in the Financials.
