Fortum will devote the next decade to electrification
Modern life requires more energy than ever before. To meet this demand, Fortum uses reliable production methods like hydropower and nuclear power. At the same time, we aim to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future by investing heavily in solar and wind power. To decarbonise entire societies and industries, the world needs considerably more clean energy than there is today. Fortum will devote the next decade to electrification and turning waste into resources. Fortum will also improve the existing infrastructure, making it more efficient, and with the lowest possible CO2 emissions.
Recycling and waste management
Our aim is to turn waste into new raw material whenever possible, to keep it in circulation and utilised again and again. Fortum is able to recycle over 80 per cent of EV batteries, and we make recycled plastic raw material out of consumer plastic waste. Fortum offers sustainable turnkey solutions of the highest quality to treat hazardous waste and ensure the safe final disposal of even the most demanding substances.
Nuclear services
Fortum has more than 40 years of experience in designing, licensing and operating nuclear facilities and supplying related services and technologies. Our expertise covers the entire life cycle of a nuclear power plant, from new builds, to decommissioning and final disposal of nuclear waste. We provide comprehensive offerings ranging from new builds to decommissioning and dismantling.
