Description of the project
Fortum Power Solutions, Turbines was selected as a supplier for turbo-generator relocation from closed paper mill Alizay France to the new site Husum Sweden. Project included major overhauls of the turbine, gearbox and generator. Modernizations of the turbine vibration monitoring system, control system and generator synchronization, excitation and protection included into the full scope.
Control stage and 4th stage of the rotating blades were damaged and those were re-engineered, fabricated and installed. On the generator rotor damaged isolations and defected cable glands were repaired. Supports for radial movement protection were re-engineered and installed. Overhaul included both stator and rotor electrical condition monitoring measurements. Turbine and generator rotors were high speed balanced after repair works.
Control system renewal included new cabinets, integration of the controls to the plant’s main automation system, renewal of the overspeed protection and vibration monitoring system. Renewal of the generator electrical systems consisted of planning fabrication of cabinets, FAT testing, installation and commissioning of the excitation, synchronization and generator protection systems.
Power Solutions, Turbines delivered all the needed services to the customer. Compared to delivery time of a new unit, production could be started significantly in advance. Costs compared to the purchasing of a new unit were remarkable lower and customer has a completely refurbished unit with still plenty of lifetime left.
