There are thousands of different types of plastics used for different purposes. The separate collection of plastic waste of different origins helps in securing high-quality recycling, where the majority of the material can be recycled and turned into new raw material. The core of our Fortum Circo recyclates is consumer plastic packaging waste, which is separately collected and delivered to our recycling process. We also recycle industrial and commercial plastic waste.
Automated sorting and total quality management ensure the quality of Fortum Circo®
The careful sorting of selected feedstock material plays a key role in plastics recycling
The core of our Fortum Circo recyclates is consumer packaging waste, which is separately collected and delivered to our recycling process. With careful management of the entire recycling chain, including the sorting of waste plastics, washing and compounding, we guarantee consistent quality and sustainability of the recycled raw material.
Our mechanical recycling process consists of several steps, including washing, drying and compounding processes, where the waste is turned into valuable, new raw material. Our plastic refinery concept is unique and is designed to ensure the quality of the end product. Fortum Circo granules are subject to quality assurance throughout the process. Consistent quality from batch to batch is a distinct feature of our Fortum Circo recyclate. By having the whole recycling process in our own hands, we have tight control of the material, the process and the outcome. The quality of each batch is monitored and checked in our own laboratory.
Near-infrared technology sorts the plastics
Near-infra red technology is used for sorting and separating the different plastics and to prevent non-plastic materials from going further along in the recycling process. Currently, the main types of plastics we are recycling are LDPE, HDPE and PP, which are the major types of feedstock in plastic waste.
