“The climate issue is high on our agenda, and this helps to get more electric cars and charging hybrids out on the roads, which also benefits the secondary market,” says Magnus Nilsson, travel and car manager at Sweco Sweden.
Sweco is Europe's leading consultant in technology, architecture, and environment, and Sweco Sweden has adopted a goal of being climate neutral by 2040. This means, among other things, fossil-free office operations in Sweden by 2030 ,and a fossil-independent vehicle fleet in 2023. As an important step on this road, from 1st of January 2019, Sweco adopted a tougher car policy for the company's seven hundred service cars. As of 2020, only so-called bonus cars are purchased, which emit less than 60 gCO2 / km.
“It was important for us to find a supplier that could offer the entire ecosystem, with its own app, easy payments and a wide network of charging stations across the country. Then the selection landed with Fortum, says Magnus Nilsson, who believes that charging places will soon feel as natural as lighting in a parking garage.
With 50 offices and 1,500 parking spaces, Fortum will install the charging stations gradually. The first installations will be in Boden, where six charging stations are to be installed around the change of the year from 2019 - 2020. The frame agreement also includes an offer for all of Sweco's Swedish employees, a total of 5,600 people. The agreement between Fortum and Sweco also allows for co-investment with the office property owner and/or other tenants.
"I estimate that we will install 150 charging stations at Sweco during 2020. As part of the frame agreement, Fortum also gives all Sweco's homeowners the opportunity to order home chargers, since in many cases charging at the office may not be enough to convince people to buy an electric vehicle," says Andreas Nilsson , Account Manager for Destination & Home Charging at Fortum.
