Fortum's Nuclear Services has been selected as one of the technical support partners for the energy company Helen's nuclear program. The frame agreement is a basis for utilization of Fortum nuclear expertise in the project.

"The framework agreements create the conditions for the nuclear energy program to build long-term and reliable partnerships, and at the same time they guarantee us flexible access to diverse and expert services at all stages of the project. We are very pleased with the fact that we have high-quality domestic partners at our disposal, which is one indication of Finnish expertise in the field of nuclear energy," says Janne Liuko, Nuclear Program Manager at Helen.
Helen's nuclear energy program aims to build a small nuclear power plant in the Helsinki metropolitan area in the 2030s. Currently, the program is in the preparation phase, during which Helen has agreed on framework agreements with technical support partners based on public tendering. Fortum's Nuclear Services is one of the four selected partners.
"Fortum differs from many other expert service providers in that we have unique experience as an owner and operator of nuclear power for decades. We bring strong and diverse nuclear expertise to the project, which we continuously accumulate in many of our customer projects around the world. New nuclear power has been one of the fastest-growing service areas in recent years, and we have related projects underway in Poland and Slovenia," says Jani Ikonen, Director, Newbuild Services at Fortum.
Fortum's Nuclear Services has more than 45 years of experience in designing, licensing, and operating nuclear facilities, as well as supplying related services and technologies. Our expertise covers the entire lifecycle of nuclear power plants, from new builds to decommissioning and the final disposal of radioactive waste.
