Fortum low-carbon technology projects not part of the first round of accepted applications for EU Innovation funding
We announced in March 2021 that four Fortum projects were shortlisted for EU innovation funding in low-carbon technologies. The total number of applications was 70. Yesterday, the European Commission announced the seven applicants that were pre-selected for grants. Stockholm Exergi’s Bio-CCS BECCS@STHLM project BECCS@STHLM project - External link was one of the projects selected. Fortum divested its 50% ownership of Stockholm Exergi in September 2021.

These projects are still important for the European climate targets and we, together with our partners, are now looking for alternative ways to finance them. This may also include applying in the next round of the EU Innovation Fund call.
