Changes in Fortum Battery Recycling leadership
27 May 2025 at 11:00 EEST
Tero Holländer, Head of Business Line Batteries, has decided to pursue new challenges outside of Fortum and will leave the company in August 2025. Holländer will be succeeded by Anssi Airas, currently the IT Director at Fortum Battery Recycling. Airas has worked at Fortum since 2018 in numerous positions focusing on digitalisation and customer solutions.
“My 8 years at Fortum have been highly rewarding, and I am extremely proud of what our team has accomplished. We have become the industry-leading company providing a European solution for every stage of the battery life cycle, and we operate Europe’s largest closed-loop hydrometallurgical battery recycling facility in Harjavalta, Finland”, Tero Holländer says. “Turning a new page leaves me feeling bittersweet but also very confident towards the future of Fortum Battery Recycling, which I leave in good hands.”
“The electrification of Europe cannot materialise without sustainable battery recycling in Europe, for Europe. As the requirements for increasing recycled materials in batteries tighten, Fortum is well-positioned to develop its battery recycling operations further. I am very excited to continue building the future success of Fortum Battery Recycling”, says Anssi Airas.
“I want to thank Tero for his pioneering work in building Fortum’s battery recycling offering from the ground up, and warmly welcome Anssi to continue developing the most comprehensive battery recycling solution in the European market”, says Esa Hyvärinen, Senior Vice President and Head of CEO office at Fortum.
The leadership change will take place in June 2025, and Tero Holländer will leave Fortum on August 9.
