Fortum has published a European Green Bond Factsheet, outlining the framework and investments supporting the company’s green transition and continued low-carbon energy generation. The Factsheet facilitates the issuance of EU Green Bonds. It follows Fortum’s Green Finance Framework (2024) which provides an overview of Fortum’s approach to green financing, governance processes, and alignment with recognised market standards.
Proceeds from potential European Green Bonds issued by Fortum will be allocated to investments contributing to the transition towards a low-carbon energy system. These include, for example, renewable energy production, nuclear energy, and other activities aligned with the EU Taxonomy.
Fortum’s Green Bond Factsheet is aligned with the EU Green Bond Standard and the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA) Green Bond Principles. Projects are assessed against the EU Taxonomy criteria, supporting transparency and comparability for investors.
“Publishing the European Green Bond Factsheet support our strategic priorities to deliver reliable low-carbon energy to our customers supporting the decarbonisation of industries, as well as our commitment to our SBTi-verified emissions reductions,” says Tiina Tuomela, CFO at Fortum.
Sustainable Fitch provided a Pre-Issuance Review of Fortum’s EU Green Bond Factsheet, confirming its alignment with European Green Bond Standard and the EU taxonomy, as well as the ICMA Green Bond Principles.
Danske Bank acted as the European Green Bond Factsheet advisor in the process.
The European Green Bond Factsheet as well as the Pre-Issuance Review are available here on Fortum’s website.
