Charging of electric cars of contractors’ staff at the Loviisa nuclear power plant will end as of January 1, 2026

Contractors’ staff will no longer be able to charge their electric cars within the power plant area. The change takes effect on January 1, 2026. The reason behind this is a decision by the tax authority, according to which the tax exemption for electric car charging as an employee benefit — originally set as temporary — will end at the close of 2025. Going forward, the charging points at the power plant area will only be available to Fortum employees who choose the charging benefit as a taxable fringe benefit subject to withholding. There are no public charging stations available at the power plant area. There is one public charging station at the accommodation area nearby the power plant area.

Charging from electrical outlets intended for pre-heating combustion engine cars (so-called heating posts) is also not permitted.
