Ongoing projects

Ajos, Kemi
We are developing an area on the Island of Ajos in Kemi for a hydrogen and/or hydrogen derivative production facility. In the first phase of the development project, we are starting the zoning process in cooperation with the City of Kemi.

Joddböle industrial area, Inkoo
Fortum and Norwegian company Blastr Green steel are developing Fortum's Joddböle industrial area for low-emission steel production.
In collaboration with Municipality of Inkoo, Fortum has been updating the land use plan to enable low-emission steel production in the area. The Inkoo Municipal Council approved the Joddböle V zoning plan in May 2025. The plan is awaiting legal validity.

Lakari, Rauma
In cooperation with the City of Rauma, Fortum has been developing and zoning the Lakari area for data centre operations. The actual investment decision will be made by the data centre operator to be located in the area.
The Rauma City Council apporved the zoning plan for the area in April 2026. The plan is awaiting legal validity.

Länsi-Pennala, Orimattila
We are developing an area in Orimattila's Länsi-Pennala for data centre operations. The actual investment will be made by the data centre project developer. As part of the development work, Fortum has zoned the area together with City of Orimattila. The City Council approved the plan in April 2026 and its awaiting legal validity.

Petäjäs, Port of Rauma
Together with Port of Rauma, Fortum has been developing the harbour area for a green transition project since October 2024 and have agreed with the Norwegian company Norsk e-Fuel to reserve the area for plant producing sustainable synthetic aviation fuel.
The new zoning plan of the area entered into force in April 2026.
In the next phase of the development project, Fortum will develop the area's gird connections.

Seppälänkangas, Jyväskylä
We are developing the Seppälänkangas area in Jyväskylä for potential data centre operators. The operator to be located in the area will make the actual investment decision. The Jyväskylä City Council approved the new zoning plan in April 2026 and it's awaiting legal validity.

Sievari industrial area, Harjavalta
In collaboration with the City of Harjavalta, Fortum updated the zoning plan to enable data centre operations in Sievari Industrial area. The zoning plan was approved by the City Council in January 2026.
In April, Fortum and the European AI infrastructure company Nscale signed a site development agreement under which Fortum continues to develop the area for Nscale's planned data centre. The development includes, among other things, planning of electriity grid connections and supporting Nscale in the permitting process.

Stormosskärret, Sipoo
We are developing the Stormosskärret area in Sipoo for data centre operations. The data centre operator to be located in the area will make the actual investment decision. The development work includes, among other things, zoning the area in cooperation with the municipality.

Sudentulli, Nurmijärvi
Fortum started developing the Sudentulli industrial area in Nurmijärvi for data centre operations in cooperation with the Municipality of Nurmijärvi in 2024. The development work included, among other things, zoning the area for data centre operations.
In January 2026, the Singapore-based data centre operator DayOne announced its plans to build a data centre in the area. Fortum’s role in the project is to support the smooth progress of DayOne’s project development.

Tahkoluoto, Pori
Fortum is developing the Tahkoluoto industrial area in Pori in cooperation with the City of Pori and its group companies, the Port of Pori and Suisto Kiinteistöt. The aim of the development work is to improve the usability of the Tahkoluoto industrial area, increase port traffic and create as many jobs as possible. Target operators for the area include, for example, production of synthetic hydrocarbons and ammonia based on green hydrogen, green steel production, as well as different stages of the battery industry value chain.
