Fortum achieves a high ranking in the Tax Responsibility and Transparency Index

Fortum has ranked very well in the Tax Responsibility and Transparency (TRTI) Index. The index benchmarks business tax conduct in five areas: policy & strategy, management & governance, stakeholder engagement, transparency & reporting and contribution & narrative. Fortum’s overall total points were 74/100 and the company scored best in the Transparency & Reporting area with 21/25 points. As the index is a high-bar benchmark, according to the Fair Tax Foundation, Fortum’s overall score and raking demonstrates that Fortum is currently performing well in this space.
The Tax Responsibility & Transparency Index (TRTI) was co-developed with CSR Europe and Fair Tax Foundation to support companies to adopt responsible business practices and meet stakeholders' expectations. This tool was the collective work of leading energy companies, including Fortum, Enel, Grundfos, Vattenfall and Ørsted.
“At Fortum, we take pride in our active role in promoting responsible tax management. As the only Finnish company committed to the B Team tax principles, we were accredited with the international Fair Tax Mark, the global gold standard of responsible tax conduct in 2024. This year also, we have been able to renew this successfully also”, says Reijo Salo, Vice President Tax, Fortum.
Fortum will publish detailed information on the responsibility and transparency benchmarking in the 2024 Tax Footprint report . to be published during week 8, starting on 17 February 2025, at the latest.
