Chat with us
Chat with us! In Fortum's chat, you will be assisted by Milo, a virtual assistant chatbot. Milo can, for example, check if an extension can be granted for your electricity bill and make the change if you wish. If Milo is unable to answer your question or process your request, it will transfer the conversation to a customer advisor (Mon-Fri 9 AM - 5 PM).
Frequently asked questions
We always invoice electricity consumption in arrears. The contract is invoiced monthly. You will receive the first invoice in the first half of the month after the contract starts. You can check the billing rhythm of your contract and change it if you wish in the My Fortum service in the Contracts section.
You will receive two separate invoices, one for the sale of electricity and one for the transmission of electricity. Fortum will invoice you for the sale of electricity and your local grid company for the transmission of electricity. If your grid network company is Caruna, you will receive a joint invoice for the sale of electricity and the transmission of electricity.
You can get a copy of your invoice by printing it from My Fortum.
If you would like a copy of your invoice by email or post, please contact customer service.
The copy we send by post costs €10, which will be charged on your next invoice.
The electricity bill consists of electricity, electricity transmission and taxes. VAT and electricity tax are paid on transmission and electricity. You can independently choose and tender the share of electricity sales, but the transmission is always handled by the local transmission company.
You will receive two separate invoices, one for the sale of electricity and the other for the transmission of electricity. Fortum invoices you for the sale of electricity and the local network company sends you an invoice for electricity transmission and other network services and collects electricity tax. If your local network company is Caruna, you will receive a joint invoice for the sale of electricity and electricity transmission. The billing rhythms of the network company's and Fortum's electricity bills may differ.
The basic fee is a monthly fee. It is the same every month regardless of electricity consumption. The energy fee is based on the energy price of your contract and the electricity consumption you use during the billing period.
We receive consumption information from your local network company.
A spot electricity contract follows the price development of the electricity market. If you have a spot electricity contract, your electricity bill will vary monthly depending on rises and falls in the electricity price. A fixed-price electricity contract, on the other hand, means that the price per kilowatt-hour remains the same throughout the contract period, and your electricity bill is roughly the same for each billing cycle. If you choose a spot electricity contract, you pay for electricity based on the exact hourly price at the time the electricity is used.
