Questions and answers

Choosing the most suitable and cheapest electricity contract for your company can seem complicated. Which electricity contract is the cheapest is also customer-specific. It also depends a lot on your consumption profile, i.e. how much and at what time of day your company consumes electricity.

A fixed price means that you pay the same price for electricity throughout the contract period, while in an exchange-traded electricity contract the price always varies on the electricity exchange according to supply and demand. A fixed-price Yritys Varma contract may be a more suitable choice if you want predictability and avoid price fluctuations. On the other hand, if you can schedule your company's consumption to the cheapest hours of the day, the Yritys Tunti electricity contract may be the best choice for your company.

In addition, we offer the Yritys Duo electricity contract, which cleverly combines the advantages of both a fixed-price and a market-price electricity contract. With the contract, you get a fixed basic price level for two or three years and at the same time you have the opportunity to save on consumption by scheduling. The agreement brings predictability to your company's electricity costs, and by focusing electricity consumption on cheaper hours, for example at night and on weekends, you can influence the total amount of your electricity bill.

The price of the Yritys Oiva agreement follows market price changes and is updated moderately monthly, always remaining competitive. Since the price is fixed on a monthly basis, your company avoids intraday electricity price spikes.

For large companies, we always tailor energy solutions to suit your company's needs. With the help of portfolio management services, your company purchases electricity strategically and smartly. Based on a risk and price strategy, we strive to provide your company with electricity as cost-effectively as possible. Since electricity is purchased in advance, you can enjoy stable prices even if prices fluctuate in the market.

So remember to take your own consumption habits into account. Based on your company's electricity consumption, you can assess which contract option best suits your needs.

The electricity bill consists of electrical energy, electricity transmission and taxes. VAT and electricity tax are paid for transmission and electricity. The share of electricity sales can be chosen and offered independently, but the transmission is always handled by the local transmission company.

1. Electricity trading

Electricity sales means the sale of electricity purchased by the electricity seller. Fortum Markets Oy sells electricity to both households and business customers, and electricity is purchased from the Nord Pool electricity exchange and from small electricity producers. The electricity price includes both the costs of buying and selling electricity.

2. Electricity transmission

Electricity transmission is the transport of electricity along the electricity network to the end user, i.e. households and businesses. The local distribution network company, which owns the electricity network in its own domain, is responsible for the electricity transmission. The transmission fee cannot be submitted for tender.
Depending on where your company operates, you will receive separate invoices for electricity consumption and transmission. If your place of use is within the Caruna or Caruna Espoo electricity network area, we can also invoice the transfer with the same invoice if you wish.

Caruna Oy is responsible for invoicing the electricity transfer of power distribution centers operating in the Caruna area, with main fuses above 63 amperes.

Please note that in the Nivo network area, Fortum does not charge for transfer, even though we supply electricity in the area.

3. Taxes

In addition to the price of electricity and the price for electricity transmission, an electricity tax is paid for electricity, which is invoiced by the local electricity network company together with the electricity transmission price - so this is not invoiced separately from the consumer.

A value added tax of 25.5% is also levied on electrical energy, electricity transmission, electricity tax.

In addition to supply and demand, the price of electricity is particularly affected by, for example, the weather, the price of natural gas and forecasts of the availability of different forms of electricity production, such as wind and nuclear power.

Your consumption also affects the price of electricity, because the more electricity you use, the higher the price. On a general level, it can therefore be stated that when the price of electricity rises, there are often many different reasons for this. Apart from our own consumption habits, there are things that we cannot influence ourselves.

How much you pay differs depending on which electricity contract you have. Since the price level is affected by so many different factors, from changing weather conditions to political decisions, it is difficult to predict the direction of development.

Our customer service will help your company with all invoicing-related questions. Call us on 0200 19100 (Mon-Fri 8-16) and we will help you find the missing invoice.
