Electricity contracts for housing associations

If you belong to a new association or it's been a while since you reviewed your current electricity contract, there may be an opportunity to save money. Our electricity contracts for tenant-owned associations are simple and transparent so that you as customers can easily understand the costs associated with electricity use in your particular association.

How do I change my electricity contract for my housing association?

Changing the electricity contract for a housing association is easy, start by looking at the association's electricity bill and checking how much consumption is monthly. Also check if your contract has a notice period or if you have a fixed date when the contract expires.

Our experts will then help you to come up with a contract that suits the housing association's consumption and needs. Regardless of whether your existing contract expires in a couple of months, we can take over the electricity trade on the same day that the current contract expires.

Who can sign an electricity contract for a housing association?

A housing association's electricity contract can be signed by one or more people who officially sign a contract with the company. This gives them the right to enter into an electricity contract on behalf of the housing association.

The electricity contract for a housing company is usually handled by the property manager, who is responsible for both selecting and signing the contract. The property manager therefore has a major say in electricity matters, but the board of the housing company should remain active and monitor the situation.

If, as a shareholder, you want more information on the electricity contract in your housing company, you should contact the board or the property manager. Issues related to the electricity contract can also be raised, for example, at a general meeting of the housing association.

Time to update your housing association's electricity contract?

In addition to improving energy efficiency, your electricity contract also matters. When was the last time your housing company put out a competitive electricity contract?

If your annual consumption is less than 200,000 kWh, you can easily sign a new electricity contract online. If your annual consumption exceeds 200,000 kWh, please submit a request for quotation to us and we will help you find the most suitable contract.

How to save electricity in a housing association

Here are 8 practical tips that will help you improve the energy efficiency of your housing association and save significantly on costs at the same time.

1. Install motion sensors in common areas

To prevent lights from being left on unnecessarily, it is a good idea to install motion sensors in common areas, such as elevators, corridors, stairwells, laundry rooms and storage rooms. Electricity is saved when the lights are not on unnecessarily.

2. Switch to LED bulbs

By replacing incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs, you can significantly save electricity in a housing association. For example, a 60 W incandescent bulb consumes 0.06 kWh per hour, while an 18 W LED bulb consumes only 0.02 kWh per hour.

3. Update the laundry room equipment

If the washing machines and dryers in the housing association's laundry room are old, you should consider replacing them with more energy-efficient options. This is often a worthwhile investment in the long run.

4. Don't buy washing machines that are too big

Washing machines that are too big are often only started half full, which leads to unnecessary energy consumption. Choose washing machines that are the right size and fill properly with each wash.

5. Make sure that external doors and windows are well insulated

Heat escaping to magpies through poorly insulated windows and doors is an unnecessary waste of energy. Make sure that the seals are in good condition to keep the heat inside.

6. Insulate the building's facade

As houses get older, additional insulation of the facade may become necessary. Although additional insulation of the facade is a large investment, it can quickly pay for itself in lower electricity bills. In addition, residents will appreciate it when the home does not feel drafty.

7. Lower the temperature in the stairwell

The stairwell is just a passageway and does not need to be as warm as the apartments. Even a drop of a few degrees can bring significant savings on your electricity bill.

8. Disable the automatic door opening function

An automatically opening front door can be convenient, and in some cases necessary. However, if possible, it is worth disabling this function. This will prevent unnecessary heat loss, as the door remains closed when not in use.
