How does Maksuturva work?
Step 1: Submit a claim report
Seek compensation in accordance with the terms without delay after 30 days.
Step 2: Send the requested documents
Attach the requested documents to the compensation claim: a certificate of the situation (e.g. unemployment) and a copy of the Fortum electricity bill.
Step 3: Compensation
During the processing of your damage report, you will pay your electricity bill as usual, and you will receive compensation for the electricity costs retroactively to your bank account.
Maksuturva FAQ
Fortum Maksuturva is an insurance designed to help secure your finances during unexpected unemployment, incapacity for work, or hospitalisation. The insurance is intended for our electricity contract customers, and it covers your electricity bill for up to four months without any deductible, with a minimum compensation of €200 per month.
In these situations, Maksuturva provides compensation for:
A minimum of 30 consecutive days of involuntary unemployment, incapacity for work, or hospitalisation
You must apply for compensation in accordance with the terms, without delay, after 30 days
The monthly compensation amount corresponds to the measured electricity consumption, for a maximum period of four months
Who can take out Fortum Maksuturva insurance?
You are 18–64 years old, in full health and capable of working, and in a permanent employment relationship
Or you are a retiree or early retiree aged 18–78. Please note that the insurance will be terminated before you turn 79
You are not aware of any upcoming notice of termination or unemployment, serious illness, health issue, personal injury, or an upcoming medical leave
Maksuturva takes effect from the day your insurance is registered. You can use it after a minimum of 30 consecutive days of unemployment, medical leave, or hospitalisation, but compensation is paid starting from the first day of the qualifying period. Compensation is provided for up to a maximum of four months.
The minimum monthly compensation is €200, even if your Fortum electricity bill is lower. If your electricity bill is higher, we will compensate the full amount.
Fortum Maksuturva costs 5,90 €/month.
