This is how Fortum Latauspaketti works
Follow the steps below and you’re all set!
1. You order the EV Value package
Order the Charging Package via our website or customer service. Once your contract is active, it will be visible in the Fortum app and on your online account.
2. You activate Smart Charging at home
Connect your car to the Fortum app by selecting add vehicle and following the instructions. After this, charging happens automatically when electricity is cheapest or when it best supports the power grid. Any compensation you receive is deducted directly from your electricity bill.
3. You activate Charge & Drive
After ordering the Charging Package and once your contract is activated, you will receive an activation code by email. Download the Charge & Drive app, register with the same email address as your Fortum account, and enter the code. You will then automatically receive a discount every time you fast charge using the app or a charging key.

Smart charging ensures your electric car is always fully charged at your desired time. Charging happens automatically when electricity prices are lowest or when the load on the grid is low. As a reward for helping balance the grid, you get 2 cents back for every kWh you charge.
In the Fortum app, you connect your car or home charger once. After that, charging runs automatically when electricity is cheapest or when grid demand is low, and the money you earn is deducted directly from your electricity bill.
With Smart Charging included in the EV Package, you can charge multiple electric vehicles. You can also optimize charging and receive charging bonuses for multiple locations, such as holiday homes and other residences, provided that Fortum supplies electricity to the relevant location.
Click the icon in the top-right corner of the EV section in the Fortum app. Under Settings, you can add a new vehicle and a new charging location.

The Fortum Charge & Drive app makes traveling effortless:
Find and filter: Easily locate nearby charging stations and filter them by power, price, connector type, and availability. You can also search for chargers that are compatible with your specific electric vehicle.
Route planner: Plan even longer journeys efficiently. The app suggests suitable charging stops along your route.
Charging key (RFID): We recommend ordering a charging key through the app to make charging on the go even smoother. When charging, you don’t need to open the app—just tap the key on the charger and charging will start without your phone.

Frequently asked questions about the Fortum Smart Charging service
In simple terms, charging is shifted from hours with higher electricity prices to hours with lower prices.
The savings depend on several factors, the two most important being the price of electricity and the charging power. If you have a more powerful home charger, such as a 22 kW unit, you can shift a larger portion of the charging to cheaper hours thanks to the higher charging capacity.
When planning Smart Charging, we take into account when you want the car to be fully charged (a typical time is, for example, 08:00). You can also set the desired end time for charging in advance in the app.
No, a charging station is not included. If your EV is compatible, the service seamlessly works with your existing home charging station without any extra installations.

Some car manufacturers don’t yet provide the secure data access needed for Smart Charging to work. As more manufacturers enable this, we continue to expand compatibility.
Connecting your car is simple. Just log in through the Fortum app using your car manufacturer’s account. We use secure, official connections to ensure your data is protected.
With the Smart Charging service, you can manage multiple electric vehicles in the Fortum app, provided that your vehicle manufacturer supports this feature.

By charging during lower-price hours, many customers reduce their overall charging costs. Your personal savings will depend on when and how you charge your vehicle.

The data collected by the app depends on your car brand. When Fortum Smart Charging connects to your car, we gain access to the data that the car manufacturer has made available through its API (application programming interface).

Charge & Drive is a convenient and flexible solution for EV drivers on the road who use public charging stations. The service gives you access to a wide charging network in Finland and across the Nordics, including the Recharge network with approximately 50,000 charging points.
With the Charge & Drive app, you can easily start and stop charging and keep track of your charging and payment history. The service is open to everyone, and you don’t need to be a Fortum customer to use it.
Fortum Charge & Drive is a separate service from Fortum Smart Charging, which is designed for home charging.
