Fortum launches Nordic-wide new benefits deal for EV drivers

8 May 2026

Fortum is a leading Nordic provider of electricity for both households and EVs—at home and on the road. With the new EV Package, Fortum customers now get both a bonus for smart charging and discounted fast charging.

“The new EV Package is for those who want a simpler and smarter EV everyday life. You get a spot price electricity agreement from Fortum with charging benefits for your EV at home and on the road,” John Gharagozlou, Senior Manager, Offering and Concept Development at Fortum, says.

“The Nordic region is a global leader in electric vehicles. More than three out of ten cars in Norway are now fully electric, and the number will continue to grow in the years ahead— also in the other Nordic countries. We want to break down barriers to switching from fossil-fuel cars to EVs and help make every day EV life simpler, more transparent, and more cost-effective,” he continues.

Benefits at home and on the road

In addition to a spot price electricity agreement, customers get discounted fast charging and a bonus for home charging. When using Fortum Charge & Drive at HPC and DC charging points, you receive a 20% discount on the price per kilowatt-hour—except at Tesla charging points, where the discount is NOK 1/kWh.

For home charging, customers receive a bonus of NOK/SEK 0.20 (2 Euro cents) for every kilowatt-hour charged using the smart charging service included in the agreement. The money you earn through the home-charging bonus is deducted directly from your electricity bill.

Fortum’s smart charging ensures your EV is always fully charged by your chosen time, and the car charges automatically when electricity prices are lowest—or when it is most helpful for balancing the power grid. As thanks for the customer’s flexibility, NOK/SEK 0.20 (2 Euro cents) is paid back for each kWh charged.

“Smart charging may have a positive effect on grid charges because it shifts consumption away from the hours when most customers use the most electricity, which can help limit which fixed-charge tier the customer ends up in,” John Gharagozlou says.

A simpler, smarter EV everyday life

Most EV drivers mainly slow-charge at home, but longer journeys also require access to fast charging along the way. That’s why Fortum has designed its EV offering as a combination of rewards for smart home charging and discounted access to public charging through Fortum’s Charge & Drive network. With the Fortum app, customers also have full control over electricity prices, consumption, grid charges and energy advice—so they can take control and optimize their energy use.

“Our services offer easy charging, great charging benefits and a Nordic charging network with more than 50,000 chargers, making it safe and easy to travel by EV both in everyday life and on longer trips.”

“Fortum Charge & Drive provides a universal solution that enables charging across operators and borders without having to deal with different charging keys, or multiple apps, and the fast-charging discount now available can quickly add up to more than NOK/SEK 50 (5 Euros) on a single fast-charging stop. Hopefully, this can encourage even more people to choose an electric car holiday this summer,” John Gharagozlou concludes.
