The cancellation of Fortum shares acquired by the company

The Board of Directors of Fortum Corporation has decided to cancel the total of
1,660,000 Fortum shares in possession of the company, without decreasing the
share capital. The shares have been acquired and shall be cancelled based on the
authorisation given to the Board of Directors in the Annual General Meeting of
Shareholders on 16 March 2006. The cancellation will be entered in the Trade
Register on or around 19 December 2006. After the cancellation, the total number
of Fortum Corporation's shares will be 887,393,646.
