Reduction of power at Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear power plant Unit 2 due to generator connection housing repair

The power capacity of Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear power plant Unit 2 has temporarily been reduced to half,  starting on 30 September, 2015 at 12.30, due to repair of a connection housing in one of the generators. An incipient fault in the connection housing was detected during inspection and proactive repairs were decided to be carried out.

The repair work will be carried out during the afternoon and early evening of 30 September. The generator will be started in the evening and Unit 2 will return to normal production overnight.

During repairs, Unit 1 is in normal production.

The situation does not endanger people, environment or the power plant.
