02 March 2017, 10:51 EET

Fortum has published its views on the relevant proposals of the EU Commission’s "Clean energy for all Europeans package".

The EU Commission published its "Clean energy for all Europeans package" on 30 November 2016. With this package the Commission took a major step towards implementing the strategic vision of the EU Energy Union. The legislative proposals included in the package cover energy efficiency, renewable energy, the design of the electricity market, security of electricity supply and governance rules for the Energy Union.

In general, Fortum welcomes the comprehensive and ambitious approach of the EU Commission. We see that the EU Commission takes an important step towards a more market-driven, smart and clean energy world. However, we want to comment some relevant parts of the proposals and give our views on:

  • Proposal on the Governance of the Energy Union (COM(2016)759 final)
  • Proposal for a revised energy efficiency Directive (COM(2016)761 final)
  • Proposal for a revised energy performance of buildings Directive (COM(2016)765 final)
  • Proposal for a revised renewable energy Directive (COM(2016)767 final)
  • Proposal for a revised internal electricity market regulation (COM(2016)861 final)
  • Proposal for a revised internal electricity market Directive (COM(2016)864 final)
