In 2018, Fortum Foundation awarded a total of more than 680,000 euros to 38 research projects. This year’s Fortum Foundation scholarship distribution event was held on 20 August 2018 at Neste Oyj’s Head Office in Keilaranta, Espoo.

“Both founders of the Foundation, Fortum and Neste, are experiencing significant change in the business environment. The megatrends driving the change, like digitalisation, urbanisation, and changing consumer behaviour, are visible in the everyday life of people, e.g. in the electrification of transportation, a robust increase in wind and solar power, and in new, more diverse energy products and services. The keys to a cleaner future are not held by individual companies; instead, what we need is extensive research, a multidisciplinary approach, and collaboration between the business world and research communities. Fortum Foundation offers us a good view of energy research and technology development. Through the research projects supported by the Foundation we gain more information about future technological challenges and solutions and about their impacts on the environment, the economy and sustainability,” says Pekka Lundmark, the Chairman of Board of Fortum Foundation.

More detailed information about the recipients of the scholarships is available on Fortum Foundation’s website: http://fortuminsaatio.fi/en/foundation/.
