Reduction of power at Fortum’s Loviisa nuclear power plant Unit 2

The power of Loviisa power plant unit 2 has been reduced by half as the generator scrammed on Wednesday 7 August, 2019 at 3.11. The scram was caused by a leak in the generators cooling system. Investigations on the leak are on-going and the generator will be started once the investigations and repairs are completed.

The Unit 2 can be operated safely at reduced power.  The Unit 1 is in normal production.

The situation does not endanger people, environment or the power plant.
