Synthos Green Energy S.A. (SGE) has started discussions with Polish National Atomic Energy Agency (Państwowa Agencja Atomistyki - PAA) on a possible Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project. As a first step, SGE has presented to PAA a proposal on the scope of a general opinion regarding organizational and technical solutions to be applied in possible SMR deployment based on BWRX-300 technology by GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH).
Fortum has supported Synthos Green Energy in this first step of a dialogue with the regulatory body. Other partners that have supported SGE at this stage include GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy and Exelon Generation.
We are very happy to be part of this process and to support it with our nuclear expertise and experience. We are excited that developments regarding nuclear power are taking steps forward in Poland, says Olli Kymäläinen, Head of Newbuild and Upgrades Services at Fortum.
