Fortum and RDIF joint venture have made a bilateral agreement with Mosenergosbyt on green energy. Green energy generated in the wind farms of Fortum and RDIF joint venture will be supplied to Sberbank's offices in Nizhny Novgorod in accordance with the agreement between Mosenergosbyt and Sberbank.

The agreement has been made after a successful pilot project on green energy supply from the Fortum and RDIF joint venture's wind farms to the Sberbank’s office located in Ulyanovsk in 2020.

“We are pleased to cooperate with leading Russian companies, such as Sberbank, and help them decarbonize their operations. We expect that wind energy will be in a key role when large energy consumers develop their sustainability strategies in Russia,” says Alexander Chuvaev, Executive Vice President of Fortum’s Russia Division.

In Russia, Fortum already supplies green energy to the AB InBev and Unilever production facilities, Air Liquide, Shchekinoazot Chemical Company, P&G, and Leroy Merlin. Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) regarding green energy supplies are signed with natural gas supplier Novatek, one of the major steel producers in Russia Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), technology company Baker Hughes, and the global energy company Shell.
