  • I learn from experiences and report the problems and shortcomings found immediately
  • I follow instructions and report any needed corrections without delay to the author of the instructions
  • I pay attention to safety in a wide area and put safety first when making decisions

Expectations for nuclear power professional are also a prerequisite for a good safety culture. Our work in nuclear power sector emphasizes open leadership, a safe work environment and competent personnel. Open leadership means, for example, a view of safety in attitudes so that we lead by example and deal with grievances constructively. A safe work environment refers to technical, administrative and organizational arrangements, such as guidelines and rules, that support a good safety culture. Competent personnel is the most important prerequisite for a good safety culture in our pursuit of safe, reliable and profitable electricity production.

When working in the nuclear power industry, it is essential to manage errors caused by human factors. A kick-off meeting is always held before the start of the work in order to assess the risks related to the work before the start of the work. Work is also always finished with a ending meeting, the purpose of which is to gather lessons learned from the work done. When doing work, various work verification procedures are also used, such as working in pairs, independent verification and clear communication, so that the end result of the work would be successful and the work would be done safely. Work verification procedures also include suspending work if an immediate risk is detected during the work or if the situation is otherwise uncertain. In uncertain situations, you should not hesitate to ask for help and advice.
