Corporate Social Responsibility

Fortum has a long history of cooperating with local communities. In 2020 we decided to re-define our way of working: we want to work in the areas that we know best and link our actions tightly to our corporate strategy.

We have structured our societal actions within the framework of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme, which covers the initiatives undertaken by Fortum companies in their neighbouring communities worldwide. The programme's focus areas are Climate (environment and water), Material revolution (recycling and waste) and People (particular emphasis on youth, children and education).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, our programme initiatives have concentrated on People as the pandemic has created an increased need for services and help among people globally. In 2020 we have already started co-operation with some carefully selected organisations and the work will continue in several Fortum countries.

We support for example John Nurminen Foundation, Mannerheim League for Children Welfare, The Finnish Association for the Welfare of Older People and The Finnish Association for Mental Health in Finland, Regnskogfondet and Sykehusklovnene in Norway and Maskrosbarn and Städa Sverige organizations in Sweden.
