Our contribution
Our approach to sustainability encompasses a broad range of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. We highlight our efforts and ambitions in areas such as climate, biodiversity, health & safety, people & wellbeing, and community involvement. We continuously develop the fundamentals of sustainability, including human rights, supply chain sustainability, and business ethics and compliance. Further information can be found below and in our Sustainability Statement.

Climate
The way we produce and consume energy plays a crucial role in mitigating climate change. Decarbonising both the energy sector itself as well as the electrification of energy intensive industries and societies are fundamental next steps in the clean transition.

Biodiversity
The degradation of biodiversity is one of the greatest environmental problems globally. We at Fortum acknowledge our responsibility for impacts and dependencies on biodiversity and ecosystem services. We aim to improve biodiversity through our operations, carry out biodiversity-related projects, and collaborate with stakeholders.

Health & Safety
For Fortum, excellence in safety is the foundation of our business. Everyone who works at Fortum should come to work confident that safety is always a priority. Our commitment to safety also extends to society and to the people living near our facilities.

People & Wellbeing
We aspire to be a responsible employer that offers a diverse and motivating work environment and invests in personnel development and wellbeing.

Community involvement
Companies can play a meaningful role in society by engaging with and contributing to the communities in which they operate. Fortum values good collaboration and transparency with stakeholders to foster trust and mutual understanding.

Fundamentals for Fortum Sustainability
Certain sustainability topics are fundamental in building a basis for sustainable operations. For Fortum, human rights, supply chain sustainability, and business ethics and compliance are such topics.
