The Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program (NNTP) is a one-year journey for emerging professionals who want to develop their expertise, gain hands-on industry experience, and build connections across the Nordic nuclear sector. Organized jointly by Fortum, TVO, Uniper, and Vattenfall, the program brings together future talent from across the region to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the future of nuclear energy.

Module 5: Visit at OKG

The NNTP trainees got to start 2025 with excitement in the air as our third module was fast approaching. The venue would be the Olkiluoto 3 Nuclear Power Plant and visitor center. I have personally never gone to Olkiluoto, or Rauma for that matter.

Insights from the first module
The first module was exciting. We spent a lot of time getting to know each other, and it seems like we have a good group of people in this program. Besides networking, we also had some informative presentations. The module concluded on the third day with a visit to the Forsmark nuclear power plant.

Loviisa nuclear power plant
We have been safely operating the Loviisa nuclear plant in Finland for over 45 years. The operating licence of Loviisa power plant is valid until 2050, which means that we will need the expertise of a wide range of professionals well into the future.

We are co-owner of several nuclear power plants in the Nordics. We implement own nuclear power projects, have strong focus in nuclear R&D and provide expertise to new nuclear and hydrogen projects. Through extensive inhouse competence we also offer our services to nuclear industry globally and are investigating opportunities in nuclear new build.
