Human rights
Fortum is committed to respect internationally recognized human rights and labour rights that are included in key human rights treaties and labour conventions. These include international conventions addressing freedom of association, collective bargaining, working time, wages and salaries, as well as laws prohibiting forced, compulsory and child labour. We expect our suppliers and partners to comply with the same frameworks.
We are committed to act with due care to identify, mitigate, remediate and monitor actual or potential human rights impacts in our business operations, investments and in supply chains. Fortum’s approach to human rights due diligence is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Human rights due diligence is an ongoing process where risks and impacts are assessed continuously as part of various processes, such as country and supplier evaluation and supply chain management. Assessing human rights risks is also a part of our investment project planning.
