Basic fee and energy

The basic fee is a monthly fee. It is the same every month regardless of electricity consumption. The energy fee is based on the energy price of your contract and the electricity consumption you use during the invoicing period. We receive consumption information from your local electricity network company.

Two invoices

The local network company sends you an invoice for electricity transmission and other network services and collects electricity tax. The billing rhythms of the network company's and Fortum's electricity bills may differ. If your local network company is Caruna, you will receive a joint invoice for electricity use and electricity transmission. You can also receive separate invoices upon request.

We always invoice for electricity consumption in arrears. The contract is invoiced monthly. You will receive the first invoice in the first half of the month after the contract starts. You can check and change the billing rhythm of your contract in the My Fortum service in the Contracts section.

How to read your electricity invoice

What is meant by the basic fee and how can I see if I will receive a different bill for electricity transfer? What times of day does the night electricity price apply? Here we explain the different parts of your electricity invoice so you understand what you are paying for.
