Temporary reduction of power at Loviisa power plant Units 1 and 2 due to high sea water temperature

The power of Loviisa power plant's both units has been temporarily reduced on 25 July. The duration of the power reduction is a few hours. Production is reduced for necessary time, so that the cooling system's discharge water temperature does not exceed the limits of the local environmental water permit. The power has been reduced by approximately 170 megawatts in total.

The summer of 2018 has been exceptionally warm and the seawater temperature is higher than normally.

The situation does not endanger people, environment or the power plant.

Update on 26 July:
Power reductions will be continued temporarily due to high sea water temperature.
